Length: 8 min Production country: U.S.A. Production date: Jan 2002 Original format: 16mm film, b/w. Aspect ratio: 4:3. Screening format: 16mm and SD video. Original Title: "L.City".
A man remembers his lost love through suggestions and atmospheres of a city...
Like lines of a poem, images, music and sounds reflect an interior state of mind, with the disrupted, non-linear structure that remembering can have.
"L.City" is made with hundreds of photo cutouts, objects, lights and shadows animated frame by frame with the help of a custom built multiplane under a 16mm Oxberry camera stand, multiple film exposure, mats, and several experimental film techniques combined with stop-motion animation.
"L.City" opened the inaugural screening of a 30 years of CalArts retrospective at the MoMa in NewYork in 2006, and it was screened at the Centre Pompidou, in Paris, France, at the Lincoln Center in New York, at the Annecy International Animation Festival, at the Hong Kong International Film Festival among the others, as well as at hundreds of international festivals around the world.
"L.City" is now part of a DVD compilation of poetry based pieces published by Rattapallax.
